Welcome to the March edition of our Best Book of the Month series. The book we picked for this month is Blair Singer’s bestseller entitled “Sales Dogs”.
Blair Singer is a sales expert, speaker and bestselling author. He is a Rich Dad Advisor to Robert Kiyosaki in the area of sales, team building and leadership. Blair Singer is best known for his can-do approach, teaching corporates and small business owners insights about sales relationships. His message comes down to the following: “You don’t have to be an attack dog to be successful in sales”.
“Sales Dogs” is about the number one skill every entrepreneur and business owner should possess: the ability to sell. Because if you can’t get customers through your doors, you will fail. If you want to be valuable and worth a lot of money you have to develop skills that are difficult to develop. Delegate the easy ones and acquire, work on the hard ones.
Sales Dogs teaches in a very fun way how to overcome the fear of selling your products, services or yourself. You will learn that you don’t have to be an “attack dog” to be successful in sales. On contrary, you can be one of the five different “breeds” or personalities of Sales Dogs and make loads of money simply by playing to your strengths.
“The key to success is playing to people’s strengths.” – Blair Singer, Team Code of Honor: The Secrets of Champions in Business and in Life
Before we move forward and I highlight the benefits of reading our February best book of the month, let’s have a listen to the following interview with Blair Singer as featured in the February 2011 issue of SUCCESS magazine. Blair talks about his failures in sales and how they’ve helped him become successful. Enjoy the interview…

How to Fail 68 Times And Still Be A Success
Two of my favorite quotes from our best book of the month ‘Sales Dogs’
#1: “You don’t have to be an attack dog to be successful in sales.”
#2: “The most successful salespeople are those who understand their natural strengths and work hard to acquire the favorable traits of other breeds. In the world of SalesDogs, the SupperMutt rules.”
Why should you read this book?
- First of all, you will identify which “dog breed” or personality of Sales Dog you are. Notice that you’ll most likely be a mix of two or more breeds. Nevertheless, each of us has a ‘dominant breed’ with a little something else thrown in. There are five different breeds: the Poodle, the Basset, the Retriever, the Chihuahua and the Pit Bull. And then there is the Big Dog and the Super Mutt. The latter two are not limited to any particular breed.
- Second, you will learn how to sell to different personality types and styles. What it takes to crack the code of each personality type and generate great income.
- Third, you will learn the five most important selling skills to master along with strategies and methods of top sales professionals.
- Fourth, you will have a lot of fun while discovering more about yourself and what issues block you from generating more sales — and more importantly, how to overcome these issues.
If you’re new to sales or uncomfortable with the notion of “selling”, this book is a fantastic read. Equally so, if you need to train others to sell or if you want to get better at the world’s highest paid skill, this book is certainly worth diving into.
