Strategic planning is a company’s process for determining its strategy and deciding how to allocate the necessary resources – best accomplished by defining a step-by-step action plan – to pursue this strategy.
Three of last week’s top stories were definitely:
- Twitter’s IPO
- Apple releasing 2 new iPhones (5c and 5s)
- LinkedIn opening up to 13-year-olds
In our previous blog we dealt with the new iPhone launch ‘For the colorful’. Therefore, in today’s blog we are going to focus on Twitter’s and LinkedIn’s latest marketing strategy.
The following announcement – that is TWEET – said it all.
After acquiring MoPub, a mobile-focused advertising platform that enables mobile app publishers to manage their ad inventory – direct ads, house ads, ad network, and real-time bidding through the MoPub Marketplace – Twitter went on to tweet about filing to go public.
LinkedIn expands their target audience…
The announcement made by LinkedIn opening up to 13-year-olds really split the online & offline community into 2 parts:
- Whereas one side welcomes the idea to encourage young people to learn and prepare themselves for the career they want,
- others consider the whole concept as being totally aberrant.
Here’s what the Huffington Post had to say recently…
There are all manner of blogs circulating at the moment that bemoan the loss of youth/growing up too fast. While many valid points are made, I’m starting to get a tad bored of this attitude as it relates to the Internet/technology. These views are typically voiced by the non-digital native and can be summarized in one phrase — “It should be like it was in my day”. But the fact is — it isn’t. The wheels of time continue to turn, no matter how much anyone laments them — and with this turning comes new ways of doing things that don’t have to be automatically branded “aberrant” — or not in a bad way.
Let’s face it, our youngsters are already on Facebook and Twitter, not to mention Instagram. Therefore why shouldn’t young adolescents be engaged on the world’s largest and fastest growing professional network, learn to write a proper application/ CV and focus on how to turn their passion into a future career?
