Only a few brands are known for developing creative and effective marketing strategies that are customer-focused. Virgin Atlantic is one of those big brands willing to break convention with everything they do.
The company launched an ad campaign that features their staff and it has the tagline “Flying in the face of ordinary”. That’s one awesome tagline, isn’t it?
Before we get into the discussion about this marketing concept, let’s take a look at the ad…
Virgin Atlantic – Marketing Strategies from the Renegades of the Airline Industry
What’s so cool about this ad?
1. The ad truly breaks convention. We only see the aircraft at the end of the commercial as opposed to other major airline brands who focus almost entirely on their crafts. Virgin’s approach is therefore very unusual for the airline industry.
2. The ad is authentic and very interesting. The story is believable and engaging. Today, the kids with special gifts have something else in common: they are all part of the Virgin community.
3. But the most important thing about this commercial is the following: The entire ad focuses on PEOPLE! It is 100% people-centric.
Whereas most airline companies focus on features such as the seats, the routes, destinations and the frequency, Virgin focuses on people. People are the key ingredient in Virgin’s ad.
If you want your company to stand out from the crowd, allow your team to shine. Let your customers and prospects know how great your staff is and how proud your company is to have them on board. If you want to be successful, you need great people with a great attitude. Virgin definitely has that.
Stop focusing on all the technical nitty-gritty and focus on the people who represent you & your brand. Realize the importance of great people in everything that you do. Make sure you invest in your A-team!
